You can reach Karlskrona conveniently via different options explained next. The closest major international airports to fly to are Copenhagen/Kastrup (CPH) and Stockholm/Arlanda (ARN). From both, you can take a train directly to Karlskrona Central station. From Stockholm, there are also the option to take a direct domestic flight to Ronneby airport (RNB), which is very close to Karlskrona.
Getting here by plane
In the following, we describe how to reach Karlskrona from either Copenhagen Airport or from Ronneby airport.
Option Copenhagen Airport to Karlskrona: There are no flights between Copenhagen Airport and Karlskrona (Ronneby, respectively). The train connection is, however, very convenient. A direct train between Copenhagen Airport and Karlskrona leaves every hour during daytime. Please note that there are limited departures on weekends. See the schedule and book tickets beforehand on the SJs webpage. You can purchase the tickets also directly in the arrival hall of Copenhagen Airport, terminal 3. Vending machines for the train tickets are located below the big clock just outside the arrival hall. Alternatively, you can buy train tickets at the service desk if you prefer personal service. After purchasing a ticket, please proceed to the escalator or elevators that take you down to track 1 for trains towards Karlskrona C. The trip to Karlskrona takes 3 hours without any train changes. Please consider the following: Purchase the train ticket before boarding the train (it is not possible to purchase a ticket in the train). During rush hours, we further recommend booking 1st class seats. Last but not least: Please target the rear part of the train (e.g. wagon 11); the train often splits along the way. Information on the slits are displayed inside the train and also on the track; please ask the conductor in case of doubts.
Option Ronneby Airport to Karlskrona: The most convenient and economic way of reaching Karlskrona from Ronneby airport is to take the shuttle bus. The tickets costs 100 SEK (approx. 10 EUR) and the trip takes approximately 30 minutes. The buses are scheduled according to arrivals and departures of flights operated by SAS. Alternatively to the bus, there are also taxis outside the arrival hall of Ronneby airport. A taxi ride between Ronneby Airport and Karlskrona City costs about 420 SEK.
Getting here by car
Via Denmark: You can reach Karlskrona via the Storebelts-Brige and the Öresunds-bridge (mind the toll).
Via Germany: There are also daily ferry connections from Germany (ex to Trelleborg, app: 250 km from Karlskrona).
Via Poland: Daily ferry connections from Poland to Karlskrona are operated by Stena Line (Karlskrona – Gdynia). Bus no 6 in the ferry terminal connects to arrivals and transfer to Karlskrona city.
By Bus: Long distance buses are available from Stockholm and Malmö.
Getting to the Campus
To reach the BTH campus from Karlskrona city, there are regular buses that leave from the bus station (Kungsplan Karlskrona, opposite to the train station). Buses nr 1 and 7 leaves towards campus from this stop (every 10 minutes). The local buses are run by Blekingetrafiken and you can get an up to date timetable on their website .
